This afternoon tour picks up inner city and immediately whisks you out to the market garden and lifestyle areas of Kumeu , Huapai and Waimauku. The name Huapai in Maori translates as “the place of fruit” which isn’t surprising given the abundance of plums, blueberries, strawberries, apples and of course grapes grown around the region.
Visit family owned Soljans Wines established in 1937 for a cellar door tasting. You can try award winning Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Methode Traditionelle, Rose´ Pinot Noir and Hawkes Bay Merlot and Syrah. They also produce a 10 year aged Tawny Port.
Next you’ll be taken through beautiful rolling sheep and cattle country out to Muriwai, a seaside enclave popular with surfers and famous for its black sand beaches.
There are spectacular views of the Tasman Sea and West Coast from the lookouts.
Finally visit West Brook Wines situated Situated in the picturesque Ararimu Valley.
